Want to make your very own leather bag?
Join us for one of Workshops!
We host small, intimate, fun workshops from our studio in Riebeek Kasteel.
Currently our workshops are all beginner level and you will learn to make a product you can use or give as a gift. You do not need any former training or experience in leather work to attend.
Please note that our workshops are intended to be a fun day out. Although you will learn a lot it is not a leather training course.
Our products are entirely made by hand and we teach you to do the same
All our tools are available to use on the day and all material you need is included. The Current available workshops runs from 9 am to about 2 pm and includes drinks and a light snack. Should you have any dietary preferences you are welcome to bring along. We accommodate groups of 4-6 people at a time so bring your friend, mom, dad, brother, work buddies and come and create an amazing product. (Sadly no individual workshops. Kindly note that you book as a group of 4 - 6 people). Please no pets or small children as we have lovely dogs on the premises. Minimum age to join a workshop is 16 with consent of parent.
We do not set out dates for our workshops. If you would like to attend, give us about 2 - 3 dates and we will book around that.
Current workshops
The Sling Bag
Make your very own Lewis and Madge Sling bag.
Our L & M Sling Bag has been an all time favourite and now you can have your own one.
Choose your own leather option/colour and we will teach you how to manufacture the Sling Bag.
In this workshop you will hand cut, hand stitch (don't worry we will teach you how), and assemble your bag.
You will finish off your bag by fitting your sling with the buckle.
The approx size of your finished Sling bag is 27 x 18 cm, vegetable tanned sling with adjustable buckle.
Perfect for everyday use. Small enough to be light weight, big enough to fit all your daily necessities.
Cost: R 1400 per person
9 am to 2 pm
The Leather Sleeve Workshop
With the Leather Sleeve workshop the sky is the limit.
The Leather Sleeve is made from Vegetable tanned leather. In this workshop, you will use various dyes and dye effects to create your own colour on your sleeve. You can "paint" anything you want or create a vintage effect. Make marks and drops or just have it in one colour. After your Sleeve has been dyed, you will hand stitch it together with the age old saddle stitch (don't worry - we will show you how). You will also place your magnetic closure to secure your sleeve. You will finish off your project with a leather sealer
to ensure it will last for many years to come.
We offer two sizes.. One for a 13" laptop or a 15 " laptop.
Should you require a different size please let us know beforehand to
adjust to costing.
Cost: R 1300 - R 1500 per person
